The Kenwood TM-261A is a well known Kenwood radio and is very reliably for all intents and purposes. I’ve used it in public service events, as a radio for a APRS node, as a radio for a packet node, and I once built a recorder with it on scan mode to record net activity for one of our public service events.
Though I did purchase this for an APRS digipeater project originally, it currently has no duty. Has been used with the NucleoTNC after the Yaesu FT-2700RH was re-purposed to a different reivision of the project and used off and on with VHF packet radio.
